The curriculum of MSE is designed to provide our students with the foundation to thrive in the broad and rapidly changing field of materials science and engineering. Our MSE curriculum is designed to reflect the entire life cycle of a material which includes (a) synthesis/extraction (b) fabrication (c) degradation and (d) Disposal/recycling of materials.


Research at MSE is highly interdisciplinary with faculties working on various research groupings viz. interface, material processing , biological materials and nano materials. The scope of the research stretches from understanding fundamental aspects of material science to product oriented and application driven research.

  • 2017 -Amit Singh (Ph.D. student) won “Best Research Poster” award “Third Best presentation” award at the Zhi-Hong International Summer School of Advanced Materials (ISS-AM, 2017 SJTU).
  • 2017 – Congratulations to Prof. Emila Panda for securing DST-SERB grant on Thin Film Research.
